REVEALED: 1958 accident that saw US Air Force drop ATOMIC BOMB on South Carolina family's backyard
The Mark 6, 30-kiloton bomb fell in the backyard of the Gregg family, injuring them and badly damaging their property. Fortunately for the family, and the surrounding neighborhood of Mars Bluff, the bomb's actual nuclear core didn't go off. It is still unclear if that core had been removed and stored in a separate part of the plane, or if the nuclear part of the bomb simply failed to go off by chance.
