Clare Andrews, an air fryer expert and cookbook writer, offers advice on simplifying Christmas cooking and minimizing stress using an air fryer. She highlights the air fryer's efficiency and health benefits, particularly for preparing roast potatoes and Brussels sprouts.
The festive season is in full swing, and while many are excited for December 25, the thought of managing a Christmas feast can be daunting. Air fryer expert and cookbook writer Clare Andrews has shared her insights on how to simplify festive cooking and minimise stress. The key, she suggests, lies in harnessing the power of the air fryer, the kitchen gadget that's become a culinary sensation.
She recognises that cooking for family and friends can be a stressful time, but assures that an air fryer can transform the experience, saving both time and effort. For those perfect roast potatoes, which are everyone's favourite side dish, the air fryer is your best friend, according to Clare. In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, Clare explained: 'We love them soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Using the air fryer does just that; it is quicker than the conventional oven and uses less oil, too, making it healthier.' Clare's top advice for air frying roast potatoes is to shake the basket every few minutes while cooking and give them a spray of oil halfway through cooking. Don't be afraid to open the drawer; unlike a conventional oven, the air fryer gets back up to temperature really fast.' She also notes that no Christmas dinner would be complete without Brussels sprouts, which can be effortlessly cooked in an air fryer as well. She shared her culinary secrets, stating: 'Of course, the traditional way to cook them is boiling them whole in a pan, but this can take a long time and can often lead to mushy sprouts if they are left too long on the hob. My top tip is to slice your sprouts in half, spray them with a little olive oil, season them with salt and pepper and air fry them for around ten minutes, depending on the size of your sprouts. Halfway through cooking, give them a good shake to ensure an even cook and it really makes them special; why not throw in some bacon lardons
