A male driver is in hospital life-threatening injuries and another driver was injured in the incident, which closed Airdrie's High Street area for around eight hours.

The incident happened last night, Saturday around 8.50pm, when a silver Nissan Qashqai hit a parked van on the town’s High Street before driving onto Aitchison Street, where it collided with a red Nissan Qashqai.

Emergency services rushed the male driver of the silver car to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
