Airdrie Diamonds manager Rhys McCabe believes his team is in its best shape for some time ahead of their clash with second-place Livingston. The Diamonds ended a seven-game losing streak with a 2-2 draw against Morton, closing the gap to rivals Dunfermline. McCabe acknowledges the challenge posed by Livingston, but is confident his side can compete.

Rhys McCabe says confidence is returning to his rock-bottom Diamonds ahead of tonight's visit from title-chasing Livingston . The Airdrie boss watched his side end a run of seven straight defeats in the Championship with a battling 2-2 draw at home to Morton on Saturday.

It also closed the gap at the bottom to nine points on nearest rivals Dunfermline, so McCabe believes they go into the game with Davie Martindale's second-place Lions in the best shape they've been in for some time, and he reckons they should have the belief they can end a their 15-game winless streak. McCabe, whose side lost 2-1 to an Andrew Shinnie last-gasp winner at Livi in September, said: 'I think the second half against Morton sparked a wee bit of confidence into our boys, so hopefully we can take that into the games going forward. We've got three home games in quick succession and a lot can change in a week. 'I watched Livi beat Partick on Friday and I thought they were more than decent, so we are under no illusions. Davie's side will be well-organised, well-drilled, enthusiastic and full of energy, so we've got to make sure that, bare minimum, we're ready. 'It's credit to Livingston and Falkirk that they've kind of put a wee run together and they're obviously up there at the top just now. 'I know when people look at the league table , but look at how quickly football can change. 'Falkirk got a man sent off early on Saturday and dropped points, so you never know what can happen. There's plenty of football still to be played and we're not even at the end of December yet. 'Getting something on Saturday, it's a much better feeling but the big thing for me is the level of performance. 'In the last 10 games, there's been very few boys that have had a real good performance, whereas on Saturday 12 or 13 of them were really good.
