A plan to construct five houses in Airdrie has been rejected by councillors.
board unanimously rejected a planning application in principle from Arthur Shevill proposing five houses be built at a site to the north of Glenmavis Road.
Planning officers had recommended planning permission be refused, on the basis that the development contravened greenbelt policy and the land was not zoned for housing development. The roads department was also opposed to the proposals as they felt the layout of the access rioad would not provide adequate visibility for drivers.
The proposal was for five detached houses and a new dedicated access road, to be built on former farmland which has not been actively used for a considerable length of time. It is located near Glenmavis Road and also Airdrie Golf Club. The planning committee agreed with the recommendation from officers and refused the application without debate.
