An Airdrie woman, who has been left in a critical condition in a Bali hospital, now faces an 'extremely difficult' return to the UK after more than £100,000 raised.
The beautician was rushed to hospital where doctors were forced to give her multiple blood transfusions as medics battled to save her and her arm. Charlene is not out of the woods yet as she is still waiting to undergo even more operations in attempt to save her arm. Now the 33-year-old faces a risky return to the UK with a medical escort where she will undergo pedicle flap surgery, which is a technique whereby skin, and sometimes muscle and fat, can be transferred from one site to another. The fundraiser update reads: "We are working hard each day and considering all the next steps for Charlene.
"To ensure there is no risk of infection and that the skin grafts that have been carried out so far show no sign of further necrotic skin, Charlene is yet to undergo various surgeries in Bali.
