Now, in his new memoir Sonny Boy, Al has explained why he never married - but also disclosed which woman nearly tempted him to take the plunge. Neither Al nor Kathleen was single at the time, but they struck up a friendship and she became a 'comfort' to him during the shoot of his 1983 film Scarface. Over the course of his career, he has dated a string of famous names ranging from Penelope Ann Miller to Lyndall Hobbs to Lucila Solá.
He also had an on-off romance with Diane Keaton, his love interest in The Godfather trilogy, who tried to persuade him to marry her but never succeeded; pictured 1988 Diane 'was mad for him' when they first became acquainted while filming the original Godfather movie in 1971, she told People. Al and Noor became romantically involved in April 2022 but were friends long before that, becoming especially close during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
