Phase-two of Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery will provide an additional 2,762 in-ground burial sites and 960 Columbarium niches to hold the ash-filled urns of those choosing cremation. In addition, there is a memorial wall with 100 sites.
) - It was a beautiful ceremony Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2024 in Spanish Fort as phase-two of the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery was dedicated. Work began more than a year ago and with phase-two complete, the cemetery will be able to continue serving Alabama’s veteran and their families.

Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, Admiral Kent Davis says the cemetery’s anticipated growth is right on track with projections. It was on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th, in 2012 when phase-one was dedicated in front of a huge gathering of veterans and dignitaries. Some of the vets who attended that ceremony have since been laid to rest in this cemetery themselves.
