Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter officials and staff say they’re excited to announce their Paw Prints fundraiser, a chance to buy amazing, one-of-a-kind portraits of the animals you love.Artists with FAAS and Alameda’s Frank Bette Center for the Arts will paint your pets from photos you supply, and the proceeds will be split evenly to benefit both groups. The cost of a portrait is $50 plus tax with an option for shipping.

Colleagues praised her dedication to her profession, her leadership at Franklin and her constant presence at school events. The Alameda County Office of Education will honor all of its teachers of the year throughout the county this fall, at which time Pieri will have a chance at also being named Alameda County Teacher of the Year.Emily Pieri, who teaches second grade at Franklin Elementary School, is the Alameda Unified School District’s 2024 Teacher of the Year. Alameda City Manager Jennifer Ott has selected Michael Eitner to serve as the Alameda Free Library’s director.

This year’s event will be full of helpful information on local and state housing laws, including tenant relocation and other current topics; fair housing rules for tenants and management; disability rights; and the mediation program and other services at the City Attorney’s Office.
