The Texas Hill Country eatery serving customers since 2006 has closed, citing financial problems after 'barely' surviving the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hill Country burger favorite Alamo Springs Café abruptly closed its doors Wednesday after almost two decades serving loyal customers in Fredericksburg . The restaurant announced Wednesday that it was closed effective immediately, sparking questions from longtime patrons about the sudden loss. Alamo Springs Café owner Brian O'Neill responded in a Thursday social media post, saying the burger joint 'barely' survived the COVID -19 pandemic and was having financial problems.

A report from mySA said that the restaurant's Yelp page listed a reopening date of April 1, 2025, but O'Neill confirmed to the Express-News that the Yelp page was incorrect. Alamo Springs Café opened in 2006 at 107 Alamo Road next to Old Tunnel State Park. Its green chile cheeseburger earned a spot on the cover of Texas Monthly's August 2009 issue, which honored the top 50 burgers in the state.
