Morgan Gibbs-White was sent off after two yellow cards for Nottingham Forest against Brighton, with Alan Shearer discussing the incident with Gary Lineker and Shay Given after
Alan Shearer says Morgan Gibbs-White can have 'no complaints' with his controversial sending off for Nottingham Forest against Brighton, though Gary Lineker was forced to disagree the challenge could have warranted a straight red card.
Referee Rob Jones used his hands to signal that he agreed the skipper had fairly taken the ball, but then opted to issue a second yellow card, and ultimately the red card, to the player. Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo was also sent to the stands for his complaints in the aftermath, as was his Brighton counterpart Fabian Hurzeler.
But continuing, the former striker believed he knew why Jones went against his initial opinion that the ball had been won. Pointing out that VAR could not get involved in this incident, he put the final decision down to fourth official Anthony Taylor, who would have had the closest view and been in communication with the on-field referee.
