Seattle-based Alaska Airlines grounded flights nationwide due to a technical issues Wednesday morning, the FAA confirmed.
The Federal Aviation Administration grounded all Alaska Airlines flights on Wednesday after the airline said it experienced an issue when it tried to upgrade its system that calculates its weight and balance. They were allowed to fly again about an hour later.
All flights, including Horizon Air which is owned by Alaska, were grounded from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. PT “out of an abundance of caution,” the company said in an emailed statement. Alaska has since begun resuming flights, but delays are expected throughout the day. The FAA confirmed that operations are back to normal.There are 12 Alaska Airlines flights scheduled for both DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field, according to Cirium data.
