State authorities conducted speed enforcement zones across south-central Alaska.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - State authorities conducted speed enforcement zones across south-central Alaska to help prevent speeding on highways.
“Just because Spring has started to arrive across much of the state, does not mean that drivers can drive over the posted speed limit or in a manner that is unsafe for conditions,” said Colonel Maurice Hughes, Director of the Alaska State Troopers. It is common for Alaskans to start driving faster in the spring because the roads have dried out, but driving over the speed limit is unsafe for any road conditions, according to the Department of Public Safety .
