Scottish Parliament candidate Mark Shields plagued his ex-partner Martine Wainwright with vile lies about her new lover during the campaign of abuse.
An Alba Party politician threatened to set his "prison friends" on his estranged wife as he bombarded her with a series of abusive messages.
The 53-year-old told his former partner that he believed her new man was "probably a nonce" in a string of disgusting emails. He was arrested after being quizzed by officers at Coatbridge police station. The court heard Shields had sent the messages after a family dispute.
