Prime Minster Anthony Albanese has called out Opposition leader Peter Dutton for committing to hold a second Voice referendum whilst the original referendum was still campaigning.
According to the prime minister, Mr Dutton’s plan was for Australians to vote No in the original Voice referendum and then to claim victory in the next federal election. Mr Albanese claimed the plan of the LNP leader would conclude with Mr Dutton urging the nation to vote Yes in a second referendum. “That’s what he said on repeated times,” Mr Albanese said during parliamentary Question Time on Monday.
“Before people voted on Saturday, he gave a solemn promise that he would support a second referendum being held.”
