Anthony Albanese has thrown his support behind the Labor candidate at the Aston by-election, while declaring it was time the Opposition recognise they 'need to do more than just say 'no' to everything'.
"When I was the leader of the Labor Party in Opposition, I put forward constructive ideas, cheaper childcare was a commitment that we made, action on climate change, the National Reconstruction Fund, manufacturing jobs, were all commitments that I made very early on in my leadership of the party.
"If the Liberals should retain Aston with a massive majority, everything points towards that," he said. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton also attended the by-election in Melbourne's outer-east, campaigning alongside Ms Campbell. Mr Dutton took aim at the Albanese government for backing out on promises to reduce power bills and cutting road funding across the Aston electorate.
Ms Campbell said if she was"lucky enough to be the next member for Aston" she would fight to get those projects back on table, as well as being a"strong voice for families".
