Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Indian counterpart will attend a political rally and watch the first hour of the final Test match between Australia and India in Ahmedabad before the pair head to meetings to discuss furthering trade ties.

The fourth Test will begin on Thursday with a political rally as the Mr Modi welcomes his Australian counterpart to the 132,000-seat stadium - named after himself - ahead of a bilateral tour around the country to grow trade relations.

Ahmedabad ground staff preparing the wickets were seen covering and uncovering two pitches at regular intervals as the two teams trained inside the stadium on Tuesday. The pitch looked even more likely to be chosen once the television cameras at the ground were put in place at each end of the wicket.
