An Albanian man has been sentenced to over two years in jail for cultivating a substantial amount of cannabis in a townhouse in Erskine.

Cops raided the five-bedroom townhouse in Erskine , where Klevis Vata was working as a ‘gardener’ on February 9, and discovered 820 cannabis plants of a “substantial height” spread across four rooms.

Procurator fiscal depute Michael Cunningham previously told the court Vata was arrested following the search and that he had been on remand since February 10. “A systematic search was carried out of the property and 820 plants were found, alongside drug paraphernalia including air filters, thermometers, fans, heat lamps, and £187 in cash. The plants were tested producing a positive result for cannabis.
