Aldi has launched a new range of 40-day matured Aberdeen Angus steaks, becoming the first supermarket to offer this product. The steaks are available in three cuts: Rump, Sirloin, and Ribeye, and are priced at £4.49, £5.69, and £5.79 respectively. A review of the Sirloin cut highlights the noticeable difference in quality and tenderness compared to Aldi's standard 21-day matured steaks.
With all of them competing for our custom, they're usually going head-to-head with most things. But it seems Aldi has decided to one-up its rivals on the steak front, becoming the first supermarket to sell a new range of 40-day matured Aberdeen Angus steaks.Made with Aberdeen Angus beef that 'make for a rich, indulgent and buttery flavour that melts in the mouth', we couldn't wait to give them a try.
The price is obvious difference, you're paying double for a start, although the 40-day ones are bigger, at 227g compared with 195g for the cheaper ones. Texture wise the 21-day is chewier and tougher too, while the newer one is strikingly tender, with that promised buttery flavour shining through.
