Parents and carers have been issued a warning after a batch of a popular baby food was deemed 'unfit for human consumption'. Anyone who has bought the food is advised not to use it but dispose of it and contact the manufacturer.

Glenisk is recalling some of its Organic Baby Fromage Frais. In a notice which is being displayed in shops in Northern Ireland it said the recall was "due to the possible mould growth identified' in the product. It added: "We kindly ask consumers to discard affected products. Retailers have been advised to remove affected batches from sale.

"If you have purchased one of the affected products, please contact us at info@glenisk.com and our team will be happy to arrange a replacement. "The Food Standards Agency shared the recall which it said was "Northern Ireland specific". It said: "Glenisk is recalling Organic Baby Fromage Frais because of the possible presence of mould in the products.

"It added: "These products may contain mould which makes them unfit for human consumption. If you have bought the above products, do not eat them. Instead, dispose of them and contact Glenisk.

"Organic Baby Fromage Frais strawberry with banana, vanilla & oatsAll are in pack sizes of 4x60g. They all have a Use by date of May 28, 2026. The FSA explained: "If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' or 'recalled' .

The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.

"In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers. "
