Jordan Henderson was on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar before he joined Liverpool but the legendary Manchester United manager decided against snapping him up
Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers urged Sir Alex Ferguson to apologise to Jordan Henderson after he published why Manchester United opted out of signing the midfielder. Rodgers was incensed by a claim made by a legendary figure of Liverpool's arch-rivals, which could have derailed Henderson's journey to becoming a club icon. Henderson was signed by the Reds in 2011 after two impressive seasons at his boyhood club Sunderland.
A then-23-year-old Henderson had just begun to re-establish himself in the Liverpool team after only making 16 league starts the previous campaign, often being a target for criticism at the start of his spell with the Reds. Launching to Henderson's defence, Rodgers slammed the claim from Ferguson. 'I think if Sir Alex ever bumps into Jordan he might want to apologise for that,' he said.
