EXCLUSIVE: The Alba party leader warned the SNP was in for a 'difficult time' when voters head to the polls on July 4.
Alex Salmond has warned the SNP faces a "major disaster" if the party returns fewer than 20 MPs at the general election .
Speaking to the Planet Holyrood podcast, Salmond said there was now a "missing 20 per cent" of voters in Scotland who backed independence but were now unlikely to vote SNP. "These are people who are going to sit on their hands, or worse still from a Nationalist perspective, vote Labour. The Nationalists returned 56 MPs at the general election the following year under the leadership of Nicola Sturgeon, after winning an unprecedented majority of Scottish seats.
He added: "I think Stephen Flynn has shown himself a very capable debater in the Westminster parliament. And Kate Forbes is a very attractive personality. People who don't share her views on a whole range of things, people are lot more broad-minded than politicians, or journalists sometimes.
