The German was comfortably defeated by Jannik Sinner in the Melbourne final and cut an emotional figure following the match

Alexander Zverev was heckled by a member of the crowd after his Australian Open final loss to Jannik Sinner.

After the crowd had settled, a brutally honest Zverev provided a blunt assessment of his own performance - and admitted he doesn't know if he'll ever lift a Grand Slam title, saying: "It sucks standing here with the trophy and not being able to touch it. But congratulations to Jannik, you more than deserve it. You are the best player in the world by far.

"I want to thank my team. We are trying to do all the right work, I’m just not good enough it’s as simple as that. But I really appreciate what everybody has done over the past few years coming back from my ankle injury to become world No.2 and playing Grand Slam finals again.
