Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister has been revealed as one of the top nominees for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award, though unfortunately misses out as the shortlist was cut down to the top three.
This ultimately earned the former Seagulls and current Reds No.10 a move to Merseyside and also nomination for UEFA's annual award. In their latest update of the nomination process, the governing body explained how Mac Allister came close to the final round. The top three that have made it to the final round of voting were revealed first. Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne - their treble-winning exploits more than likely being a deciding factor in the minds of the continent's coaches and journalists - and Mac Allister's World Cup-winning team-mate Lionel Messi were the advancing candidates to next week's presentation.
