Alison Hammond and Dermot 'uncomfortable' and 'awkward' as they fill in for Phil and Holly
Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond took the reigns on today's episode of This Morning, following Phillip Schofield's departure and Holly Willoughby's decision to take her half-term break early.
He believes Dermot felt "uneasy" as he opened the show, and said both presenters used "awkward" gestures while Alison felt somewhat "unsure in herself." "He appeared to interlock his fingers quite a lot and often clasped his hands together, which are both gestures that denote uneasiness and awkwardness. Alison also displayed a few hand clasps, which also signify that someone is unsure in themselves."
"Alison did most of the talking and displayed lots of open palm gestures, which is a sign of openness and honesty. Despite appearing slightly nervous, Dermot was especially good in his delivery and getting his words out. I think Dermot is the most affected, but they both showed genuine sadness over Phillip’s departure.
He explained: "The banter between Dermot and Alison isn’t quite there and on point today. Although they’ve worked together quite a lot, I don’t think they’ve got that deep bond that Phillip and Holly had. However, I do think this is understandable as Phillip and Holly presented together for years.
