EXCLUSIVE: Alison Hammond opted against the permanent This Morning hosting gig, deciding that she did not want the responsibility of main anchor alongside her other work
After fronting a number of This Morning episodes in the months after both Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby departed the show, many viewers had expected Alison Hammond to take the reins full-time. Subsequently, they were left rather surprised upon the announcement that Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley would be the show's new permanent presenters.
Revealing why Alison turned down this role, a source has exclusively told OK!: "Alison was given the This Morning job to do it full time, she was actually the one who didn't want it. Alison loves her time on the show but she doesn't want the responsibility of being main anchor. He was subsequently axed from ITV completely and was dropped from his talent agency, YMU. Phillip also confessed to lying about the relationship to his wife, agent, viewers, and colleague when previously questioned over the rumours.
