Gavin & Stacey stars Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb, who reunite for a cross-country road trip in their latest show, open up about their decades-old friendship
When Gavin and Stacey icons Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb reunited to film a road trip along the sitcom’s famous route from Essex to Wales - fans were quick to assume their much-loved sitcom was returning.

Larry and Alison love playing Mick and Pam and would return to the show in a heartbeat. However, it’s down to writers Ruth Jones and James Corden to take the story further.
“The writing is brilliant,” says Alison. “It's one of the best series I've ever done. Ruth and James know how to get it right and I love the fact that Pam and Mick are over the top, but they're very real in that they have these terrible rows, but underneath it all they love each other.” Larry agrees it’s the rare enduring love between the pair that people are drawn to. “They represent the sort of archetypal ever loving couple to so many people because as we know in life, achieving that is a rarity,” says Larry. “It's lovely to get the chance to play that. We do get on really well. If we didn’t get on the show wouldn't have worked.”
