Hearts star Blair Spittal scored twice against Celtic while for Motherwell last season but Johnston singled him out for some sledging
Blair Spittal has revealed how Alistair Johnston trash talks during games with the Canadian branding the current Hearts star a "b****" last season.
Spittal scored his first goal of the campaign for Motherwell against Celtic last season, playing on the left for the Steelmen as he enjoyed a stellar season, earning him his move to Tynecastle last summer, when he penned a three-year deal with the Jambos and has continued his scoring form in maroon. Spittal also found the net when Motherwell made the trip to Celtic Park for tyhe return fixture. But that did nothing to stop right back Johnston singling out Spittal for some mind games during the match. Spittal told the Open Goal podcast how Johnston laid down the gauntlet to him when Spittal was on the ball. "He called me a b**** last year to be fair. I think I was one-on-one with him, or something like that, and the ball had broke between us.
"I think he asked me to take him on. He said, 'Go on, take me on you little b****'. I think I called him out. I went 'That's a bit uncalled for isn't it'?" When asked by Andy Halliday if he did take on the Canadian international, he replied: "No, I think I was waiting on the overlap."
