Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya in The Acolyte season 1 (STAR WARS)
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Acolyte episode 3 features a wealth of exciting Easter eggs and references to the greater Star Wars canon. Set further back in the timeline compared to The Acolyte's first two episodes, The Acolyte episode 3 reveals the origins of Osha Aniseya and her twin sister Mae when they were children, having been raised by a coven of Force-using witches.
18 Zabrak Mother Koril 17 Mother Koril is a leading Zabrak member of this new Force cult of witches. Zabraks are a common humanoid species in theStar Warsgalaxy, while also being the same species as Darth Maul and the prequels' Jedi Master Eeth Koth. Charged with caring for Osha and Mae, it's later revealed that she was the one who carried and gave birth to the twins, explaining her determined desire to keep them safe.
13 Galaxy’s Fear of Witches Resembles The Nightsisters Hiding inside a fortress on Brendock, Aniseya confirms during the twins' ascension ceremony that their coven was feared across the galaxy and their gifts met with suspicion. This is not unlike the Nightsisters of Dathomir, an established coven of dark-side witches who have most prominently been featured in The Clone Wars and more recently in live-action with Ahsoka.
10 The Moons of Brendok The Light And The Dark During the ascension ceremony, Brendock's dual red and blue moons are revealed. They should look quite familiar considering The Acolyte's logo. Likewise, there's also a potential connection to Legends to Tython's moons of Ashla and Bogan, each representing the light and dark side of the Force. Something similar may be at play here as well on Brendock.
7 “They Have No Father” Anakin Didn't Have A Father Either Telling the Jedi that Mae and Osha have no father, it's teased that the twins were conceived using the Force. This is not unlike Anakin Skywalker's conception which was referenced in The Phantom Menace. He too had no father, though his conception is more miraculous and connected to his status as the Chosen One, rather than someone like Aniseya seemingly her power to create life.
4 Testing Screen Osha is further tested by Masters Sol and Indara using the same screen guessing game the Jedi Council uses on Anakin in The Phantom Menace. While the images are different, the basic principle is the same. However, Osha's attempts to intentionally fail were discovered by Master Sol, and she was eventually convinced to join the Jedi Order rather than become a witch.
