ITV shares broadcasting rights of the World Cup with the BBC, meaning your favourite soaps will be rescheduled
The upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar is kicking off on Sunday, November 20 with Emmerdale and other popular soaps due to be impacted for weeks. ITV bosses have yet to reveal the plan for rescheduling of Emmerdale and rival Coronation Street.
Although, looking back at the men’s and women’s European Championships, aired over the last two summers, there is a likely solution. At that time, week-long blocks of episodes were released to stream.It is expected ITV and the BBC, which airs EastEnders, will take a similar approach. Both broadcasters will be broadcasting selected World Cup matches.We’ll bring you more on plans to reschedule your favourite soaps and any additional matches due to be broadcast when we have further information.
