An organoid is a lab-grown replica of an organ, created from stem cells. While tiny and not fully functional, these 3D living structures mimic key features of organs like the liver, intestines and, very curiously, the brain, too.
They’ve created a “living computer” using lab-grown mini-brains from neural stem cells that consumes far less power than today’s silicon chips. Unlike traditional silicon chips that excel at high-speed calculations, these brain organoids are particularly adept at handling complex tasks that require adaptability and pattern recognition, such as voice recognition, visual processing and decision-making.
