Alleged murderer claims he has ‘no memory’ of attack on man killed in Oldham, trial hears
An alleged murderer claimed he has ‘no memory’ of stabbing a man in a fatal attack in Oldham, a trial has heard.
“We went to my car and the girls were supposed to go in the other car, so I said “let’s go” as they were taking too long,” Mr Corddoso said. “This man [Mr Dasilva] started talking to me. I don’t know if he was angry when I said “let’s go” as he was speaking to one of the other girls.Mr Corddoso told jurors that Mr Dasilva, also a Portuguese national, asked to ‘talk to him’, at which he told his friend who advised him against it.
Mr Corddoso said he was let go and made his way back to his car, before he saw Mr Dasilva walk back towards him with a ‘broken bottle’. “I was trying to understand what happened, it didn’t make any sense,” he said. Mr Corddoso said he was left with a diagonal cut to his right eyebrow, which has since left a scar.
Speaking of the fatal incident in May, he said he and a group of friends went to club Liquid, in Oldham. He said when he first got there he put a hoodie on and put his hood up so that he could ‘check’ the area to see if the ‘group of people’ were there. “He said: ‘Wait’, and I said: ‘Why?’. He said he wanted to talk to me and I said: ‘About what” and he said: “About that night”.Mr Corddoso told jurors he went back to his car and got his hoodie because he thought some of the group would recognise him because of his hair.He said he had bought a knife two to three days earlier for his kitchen and had left it in a bag in his car.
