Alleged rapist Bruce Lehrmann is suing Network Ten for airing a 2021 interview with his former fellow political staffer and accuser, Brittany Higgins . The defamation trial is being streamed live on YouTube, after the presiding judge, Michael Lee, ruled that “the openness of the judicial branch of government in this country is a basic democratic right which the courts should actively support”.
At some points during this live-streamed trial, more than 20,000 people have followed the proceedings of the court.
