Earlier this week developers Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates submitted plans for a pair of huge warehouses off Sherwood Way South in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire
Nearly 1,000 jobs could be created in Nottinghamshire if plans for a £75m construction project go ahead. .
The two buildings, the largest spanning 525,000 sq ft and the other measuring 172,000 sq ft, will form the second part of the partners' Summit Park - with the first being an even bigger space occupied by Amazon. If permission was granted for the project, which would have a value of £75 million when finished, planning documents claim it would likely create 950 jobs.
Matt Sladen, development director at Sladen Estates, said: “Summit Park was a hugely significant development for the area and we are very pleased to be bringing forward this second phase. Between the two units, it will create nearly 700,000 sq ft of additional distribution space following on from the success of the first phase in this key area for the logistics sector.
The two partnered firms explained £1.35 million a year would be paid to the local councils and Government in business rates once it was occupied. Ralph Jones, managing director at Peveril Securities, added: “Following the success of Summit Park - which delivered some 1,750,000 sq ft of distribution space for Amazon - we have now submitted applications for this important second phase of development on this site.
"With its links into the motorway network via the nearby M1 junction, the site is a prime location for the logistics sector, and these submitted proposals for two additional warehouses are a significant step forward for the development.” The planning applications are pending consideration by Ashfield District Council and Mansfield District Council.
