Amanda Abbington has removed herself from social media on the same day it was announced that her former Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice will not be returning to the show in 2024.

Giovanni, who joined the Strictly family in 2015 and won the show with Rose Ayling-Ellis on the 19th series, was noticeably absent from the BBC's recent reveal of the professional lineup for next year. This follows speculation about his future on the show. The broadcaster is reportedly in the process of "evidence gathering", amid suggestions that more celebrities might have approached lawyers regarding the matter.
In 2021, Giovanni Pernice triumphed on Strictly Come Dancing with EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, marking her as the first deaf contestant to clinch the glitterball trophy. The line up for the upcoming series of the hit dance show which is set to return to our screens later this year has now been unveiled.
