Amanda Staveley wants to return to the Premier League just days after leaving Newcastle.
Amanda Staveley is 'in talks' about investing in a Premier League club just days after leaving Newcastle United .in October 2021 when they helped to orchestrate the £305 million takeover of the club by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund in 2021.Having gained experience in the day-to-day running of a football club, Staveley is already looking to invest in another Premier League side.
According to Bloomberg, the 51-year-old is considering buying stakes in Tottenham Hotspur, having recently raised around £500 million through her investment fund PCP Capital Partners. She has reportedly already held initial discussions about buying a minority stake with Rothschild & Co., an adviser to Tottenham.
Tottenham have excelled off the pitch under the stewardship of chairman Daniel Levy, having built a state-of-the-art stadium. The club has a valuation of around £2.9 billion including debt, according to the consultancy group Football Benchmark. However, Spurs are still some way of becoming regular Premier League and Champions League title challengers. Last season Ange Postecoglou led them to a fifth place league finish.Last year, Levy told Bloomberg News that he was open to selling a stake in the club. "I’ve got no real interest to leave Tottenham, but I have a duty to consider anything that anyone may want to propose," he said.Alex Brotherton is a journalist at SPORTbible.
