On Friday, May 31 the LCO will be coming to Glasgow for the first time and putting on a musicals show at Sherbrooke Mosspark Parish Church
An amateur orchestra based in Lanarkshire is branching out to Glasgow this month as it begins the countdown to its 70th anniversary.
Speaking exclusively to the local democracy reporting service Caitlin said: “This concert is going to be the biggest concert we have had to date - certainly in my tenure. LCO is already proud of its diversity with members of all ages from different backgrounds coming together every Thursday evening to rehearse in Blantyre.
“It’s an orchestra for the people who want to play music. I love coming every week. There’s always something new.” Martin Barnett, president of the LCO and music teacher at Glasgow City Council, said he was very excited to be performing at Sherbrooke and for the LCO to have a chance to perform in such a beautiful venue.
“I have played with the LCO for nearly ten years and am just about to complete my second year as President. “Playing and performing music in such a welcoming and inclusive environment helped me so much, I have always felt there is just something magical about music.
