American Airlines pilot caught over legal limit before flight avoids jail and keeps his job
A PILOT avoided jail yesterday despite being caught over the alcohol limit minutes before a transatlantic flight.
American Airlines Capt David Copeland, 63, was held at Manchester airport after an evening drinking wine and rum.But a court heard that his reading of 27mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood would not have been over the limit in his US homeland. The UK limit is 20mg.He had previously admitted being over the limit for flying and was facing two years in jail.
