American fencer Elizabeth Tartakovsky spoke to Fox News Digital ahead of her Olympic debut in Paris this summer about the importance of mental health and her own personal journey.
The 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo helped to change the conversation around mental health. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles led the charge in speaking publicly about the challenges that athletes face and the difficulty in overcoming those moments on the world’s biggest stage.

'I started working with a sports psychologist, maybe in high school just to learn how to deal with all these different emotions, the pressure, expectations, and also just learning how to perform well under stress,' Tartakovsky said.
