Ahead of the U.S. Open and his first Father’s Day, the Highland Park golfer’s family shares the story of his arrest from their perspective.

One moment they’d been a couple and the next, at 8:40 a.m.

North Texas of course knows all about Scottie and the Schefflers, the family of six having moved here from New Jersey in 2002 when Diane became the COO of a Dallas law firm.He won three state championships and the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur.
“I know that Scottie’s life is very public, but we celebrate each other equally. One child’s accomplishment is not more important than the others. We don’t see Scottie as this famous person, like the world does. We see him as our brother, who we’ve grown up loving and supporting in this wonderful game.”
Andrew and Callie have a 2-year-old son, Hayes. Scott, Diane and Callie have noticed how closely Scottie has watched Andrew and Hayes interact, especially the way Hayes mimics almost everything Andrew does.Advertisement “Every activity was on a different day, so I was changing out the balloons, making sure that everyone got celebrated and loved,” she said. “This whole time I’m thinking, ‘This is so wonderful.’”
Over the course of five days, the Schefflers put 2,000 miles on the family’s 2008 Honda Accord, Scott quietly celebrating when the odometer clicked past 200,000. He shot an opening-round 71, nine shots out of the lead but far from insurmountable for the planet’s best golfer.
