Between April and November, Keystone Service trains will be replaced by buses.

If you're in Harrisburg and need to take the train to Philadelphia or beyond, you're going to have to take a bus to Lancaster first.Beginning Monday, Amtrak will suspend its Keystone train route between Harrisburg and Lancaster as the company works to improve the tracks on that line. This $122 million investment aims to improve ride quality and comfort by replacing tracks that Amtrak officials say are from the 1950s.

Crews will also swap out the wood ties on the tracks for concrete ties, which Amtrak officials say will extend the lifespan by 35 years.Amtrak said service between Lancaster and Harrisburg will be halted between April 8 and Nov. 21 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays. Amtrak will provide buses to riders on that route, which will be located at the stations and add about 45 minutes to the commute. The company said around 450 daily commuters will be affected by these disruptions.
