The studio’s description of the film is tame: “A woman pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mom, but soon her new domesticity takes a surreal turn.” The woman is never named, referred to only as Mother, and puts her life as an artist on hold to raise her son. Instead of arranging colors on a canvas, she’s slipping on the mess of finger paint and spaghetti that her tornado toddler left in his wake.
Then comes the “surreal turn” — in which Adams’ character starts growing fur, attracting dogs, and caving into the primal urges that lead her to forgo using any utensils and instead just shove her face into plates of food. “I could crush a walnut with my vagina,” she tells a stunned woman in the trailer before barking in her face and chowing down on a burger. Sprinting through the streets on all fours with her tail wagging behind her, she declares: “I am a woman. I am an animal. I am Nightbitch.
