Elphicke's defection has opened up a split between Sarwar and UK Labour leader Keir Starmer, who has welcomed the Dover MP into the party.
Anas Sarwar has said Tory defector Natalie Elphicke "certainly wouldn't have been a Scottish Labour candidate".
The Dover MP has been criticised for her anti-immigration views and for supporting her ex-husband after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two women. "What I am looking forward to seeing is Mike Tapp, the Labour candidate in Dover and Deal, winning that seat and helping us deliver a UK Labour Government.
