A passenger died after the pickup truck he was traveling in was involved in a rollover collision on Monday afternoon.

Morning FastCast digital headlines for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.WASILLA, Alaska - An Anchorage man died when the pickup truck he was a passenger in rolled into a ditch alongside the Parks Highway Monday afternoon.

A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said they were notified at 4:01 p.m. of a rollover collision near Trunk Road on the Parks Highway. Upon arrival, troopers and emergency medical services located a Chevrolet pickup truck upside-down in the median. One man, later identified as the driver, got out of the vehicle but his passenger was unable to do so.

Rescue teams removed the passenger, another adult male, from the pickup and transported him to a Mat-Su area hospital. The man, identified as 26-year-old Tyler Anderson of Anchorage, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The roadway reopened after about three hours while troopers and Wasilla Police investigated the scene and cleared the area of debris.

Troopers say the crash investigation remains ongoing and encourage any witnesses that have not spoken to law enforcement to contact MATCOM dispatch at 907-352-5401.
