From the early morning sunrises, seagull takeover of Southcentral and disappearing river ice, spring has truly settled into much of Alaska.

Anchorage sees a week straight with highs in the 50sANCHORAGE, Alaska - , buds are beginning to show on many trees. Within the next week or two, buds will very likely open, bringing life and color to trees. In a few weeks, temperatures will likely begin to warm well into the 60s — if not some 70s.

Even though it’ll be some time until the first 70-degree day, temperatures remain pleasant. The 58-degree high on Saturday in Anchorage marked the warmest day of 2024 and one of three days this month in the upper 50s. While it’s unlikely to hit the upper 50s until the end of the week, it’ll still be a gorgeous Monday. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies can be expected across Southcentral through the day, with many areas climbing back into the low-to-mid 50s. The Mat-Su Valley and the Copper River Basin will see the best opportunity for temperatures to warm near 60 degrees.

Into the evening hours, as clouds stream back across Southcentral, expect spotty to isolated showers. Those isolated showers will hang around through the middle of the week, although most inland locations should stay on the drier side. The best chance for rain this week will be near the gulf coast. While today through early Wednesday will see largely dry weather for coastal regions, expect rain to gradually build back into the Gulf of Alaska through the end of the week.
