Andrew Thaler has previously run in elections at a local, state and federal level without success, but this week he secured a four-year term on the Snowy Monaro Regional Council after being voted in on preferences. "On that basis, Mr Thaler remains banned from council offices and council events and will be required to attend council meetings remotely via Zoom."
"With the most unreliable internet connections across the Monaro, they only want me to attend only via electronic means? They must be joking.", a 95-year-old woman who died one week after allegedly being tasered by a police officer in her aged care home in Cooma. During a court hearing, he was removed by corrections staff after questioning the authority of Magistrate Roger Clisdell during a heated outburst.
In the lead up to the charges being dismissed, several female politicians including NSW Nationals Deputy Bronnie Taylor, former Member for Monaro Nichole Overall and four female Snowy Monaro Regional Councillors showed their support for the complainant by appearing in and outside the court room in Cooma.
