Taking to X the 37-year-old wrote: "Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament @Olympics. Unfortunately, Murray was denied a rightful Wimbledon farewell in the singles after he had surgery on a spinal cyst just a week before the tournament began. After major success at his first Games appearance in Beijing in 2008, Murray became the first male tennis player to win two Olympic singles titles four years later when he beat Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro in Rio.

Murray will compete in the mens' singles alongside Jack Draper, Cam Norrie and Dan Evans who are making their Olympic debuts this year.
