Angela Bassett may have gotten the last word about her 2023 Oscars loss in the premiere of season seven of her hit show 9-1-1 Thursday night after admitting to being 'gobsmacked' over losing out to Jamie Lee Curtis.
During the session, she reveals she was traumatized by the 1972 film The Poseidon Adventure, about a luxury ship that is capsized by a massive tidal wave in the middle of a New Year's celebration. The script seemed to draw a comparison to Bassett's own loss in the Best Supporting Actress category at the 2023 ceremonies. The win went to Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, who starred with Best Actress winner Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Although Bassett's nod was one of five nominations that year, the action adventure won only for Best Achievement in Costume Design.
