England take on Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday and for some in Anglo-Spanish households, excitement seems to be at fever pitch
Anglo-Spanish couples are bracing themselves for a "tense" yet "fun" atmosphere in their homes during the Euro 2024 final. The showdown between England and Spain is set to take place this Sunday in Berlin.
Their predictions for the match's outcome also differ significantly. "I think it will end up going to penalties, which is always a really tough thing to happen to them as people, and the pressure, and then I think it will end up with England winning, but on penalties," Mrs Garcia, who works in the construction industry, told PA.
"On the English side, I think it's been the opposite - we have great players, they're not performing probably as they should be. England is now the underdog." Despite being only three, Eva may be showing early signs of a future footballer as she enjoys running around and kicking footballs. "It's nice to see them watching the matches and getting behind the excitement of it all," Mrs Garcia added.
Ms Berlango shared with PA that Tristan is currently torn in his allegiances. "I think last year he was rooting more for England but this year he seems to be rooting more for Spain," she commented. With strong cultural roots and superstitions in play, Ms Berlango's Spanish flag, which she regards as a talisman for good luck, will be prominently displayed. "I got it when Spain played the final of the World Cup 2010 and my flag is always with me. It's my lucky flag," she proudly stated.
