A passenger onboard a Jetstar flight, which was left on the tarmac for at least 11 hours after it was forced to make an emergency landing for a medical emergency, has taken Alan Joyce to task while demanding a refund.
William Kiss was one of 320 holidaymakers returning from Bangkok to Melbourne in the early hours of Sunday morning when their flight was suddenly diverted to the Northern Territory town of Alice Springs for a"serious medical emergency".
Mr Kiss told Channel Seven's Sunrise what occurred when they arrived, revealing they were given updates as they waited but the announcements were"sparse". But Mr Kiss believed he and his fellow holidaymakers were not treated like passengers and have since been told refunds would be handled on a"case-by-case basis".
“I feel sorry for the passengers because the conditions on an aeroplane sitting on the ground where you haven’t got the same airflow as in flight, it must have been getting pretty manky.” "It’s hard to know, we don’t know anything about aviation. We’re just passengers on the flight but it certainly didn’t feel like we were treated that way," he said before stressing again why the passengers deserved to be compensated"fairly".
The interview was concluded by Mr Kiss being asked if he would fly the low-cost airline again, to which he took aim at Mr Joyce, the CEO of Qantas, which owns Jetstar."And if they offer me a travel credit, they can forward it directly to Alan Joyce cause he can experience his own airline for himself."
